Blender Bombs was an up-and-coming brand creating high-quality smoothie enhancers in need of a bold e-commerce website. One of the biggest challenges to overcome was spreading the word of this new company and product in the market. The client had big dreams to create a website that was ultra-creative, bright colored, and an overall fun user experience. Even though being engaging and bold was important, it was vital to make sure the sales funnel and checkout process still functioned properly in order to create an easy-to-use digital storefront.
The research phase for Blender Bombs was unique in the sense that it didn’t have too many competitors in the space. A lot of the analysis was into e-commerce stores and what people are vs. aren’t doing in the health food space. Throughout the discovery meetings, we discussed the need for animation that helped to showcase and enforce the concept of combining fresh foods with Blender Bombs in one’s blender to create the perfect meal replacement for both weight loss and energy enhancement. The website and other assets were useful towards the execution of being fresh and energetic with the help of the product.
Creating a 90’s inspired website and user experience started with designing wireframes and user flows with many in-person meetings with the client. Once all wire-framing was complete and approved, our development director and the team worked together to create a prototype of the animation elements to be featured on the new homepage. This came with many challenges to work through, including how it would work on responsive screens and mobile devices. When this had been worked out effectively, the design phase was jam-packed with a series of design sprints. After the website and user experience launched, I worked tirelessly to solve problems as they would arise in partnership with the client. Overall, Blender Bombs was one of the most challenging and rewarding projects achieved in my career thus far.
